Another Chinese remedy to cool the body when fighting a fever is to have barley water. It is easy enough to make. Rinse a cupful of barley pearls & place in a pot with 2-3 cups of water & bring to a boil. Once boiled, turn the heat down so it simmers for about 30 minutes & add a few crystals of rock sugar or just normal sugar which then it is ready to drink.
This is a basic recipe but you can also add other things such as ginkgo, white fungus, dried beancurd skin or even eggs to it to make it into an everyday dessert or drink.
